2027 Immersion Costa Rica Training Retreat

The Trauma & Anxiety Clinical Immersion Retreat

A 7-Day Training & Renewal Experience for Licensed Therapists

    January 23–30, 2027
Nosara, Costa Rica | Casas Kismet
    Earn 20+ Continuing Education Credits
    Limited to 15 Therapists

This is both advanced clinical training and intentional restoration.

This is both advanced clinical training and intentional restoration.

Over seven immersive days, you will deepen your trauma treatment framework, refine your integrative approach, and strengthen your ability to work with complexity — while stepping away from the pace and pressure of daily practice to experience meaningful rest, embodied healing practices, and nervous system reset.

    This is not a conference.

    It is an immersion.

It is structured learning woven into a retreat environment designed to reduce burnout and renew your professional clarity.

    Secure One of 15 Spots

You Were Trained to Diagnose. Not to Sustain Yourself.

Most continuing education events are information-heavy and nervous-system neutral.

    You sit.
    You listen.

You return home with notes — and the same level of exhaustion.

But trauma work demands more than intellectual understanding.

    It requires somatic fluency.
    Attachment awareness.
    Internal clarity.

Capacity to regulate yourself while holding intensity.

    And it requires restoration.

This retreat was created to bridge that gap — to offer rigorous clinical depth within an environment that actively supports the therapist’s own nervous system and professional renewal.

    What Makes Immersion Different

This Is Not Just Training. It’s Integration.

    Our Advanced Integrative Clinical Framework

This week is not just a retreat. And it is not just a training. It’s a full professional immersion into trauma therapy as it is meant to be truly embodied...

    • Stabilization and nervous system safety
    • Somatic interventions you can use Monday morning
    • Breathwork training for clinical work
    • Attachment, complex trauma, and meaning-making
    • Ethical, gold-standard ketamine-assisted psychotherapy foundations
    • Therapist sustainability + embodiment
    • Integration as the intervention

We will be offering 23 Continuing Education hours across the week, including:

    • Foundations of Trauma-Informed Clinical Care
    • Trauma as Nervous System Dysregulation
    • Somatic Safety & Resourcing
    • Breathwork and Trauma Release
    • Complex Trauma & Attachment
    • Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy Introduction
    • Sequencing Trauma Work & Therapist Sustainability

For those who medically qualify, there will be an optional supervised KAP practicum dyad experience as part of the retreat week, meaning approved clinicians will be able to gain the practicum experience of being both a KAP therapist and a KAP client! As always, held to the highest ethical and clinical standards.

This is seven days of depth — not seven days of lecture.

Enrollment is capped at 15 therapists to preserve:

    • Clinical rigor
    • Meaningful discussion
    • Case consultation
    • Psychological safety
    • Intimate professional community

    EXCURSIONS & EXPERIENTIAL HEALING

Healing extends beyond the therapy space. Thoughtfully chosen excursions support embodiment, joy, and reconnection:

    • Guided waterfall hike
    • Horseback riding on the beach
    • Hands-on authentic Costa Rican cooking class in an outdoor kitchen

Excursions are included in the retreat price and scheduled intentionally to support—not overwhelm—the therapeutic process.

A Week Designed for Depth, Integration, and Renewal

Each day balances focused continuing education with experiential learning and restorative space.

Saturday, January 23, 2027: Arrival & Entering the Container

    Theme: Orientation & Intention

We begin with an evening welcome circle to establish psychological safety, set intentions, review the week’s arc, and intentionally enter the clinical container together.

This is a soft landing — grounding, connection, and nervous system settling.

Sunday, January 24, 2027: Foundations of Trauma-Informed Clinical Care

Theme: Stabilization, Safety, and the Trauma Lens

We explore the foundations of ethical, trauma-informed presence, including:

    • Conceptualizing acute, chronic, and complex trauma
    • The therapist’s stance: pacing, safety, scope
    • Trauma-informed care beyond surface language
    • Somatic safety, resourcing, and grounding practices

Afternoon learning labs focus on practical nervous system stabilization strategies clinicians can immediately integrate into session work.

Evening: Communal dinner and restorative downtime.

Monday, January 25, 2027: Trauma as a Nervous System & Survival Response

    Theme: Brain–Body Integration

    Participants deepen their understanding of:

    • Trauma as unresolved survival physiology
    • Autonomic nervous system mapping
    • Window of Tolerance as a clinical guide
    • Fight, flight, freeze, and shutdown responses

Applied practice includes breath-based regulation strategies and somatic interventions that support anxiety reduction and survival response completion.

    Evening: Rest and integration.

    Tuesday, January 26, 2027: Psychedelic-Informed Trauma Care

    Theme: Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy Excellence

    Focused CE sessions examine:

    • Current research and ethical standards
    • Set and setting as clinical intervention
    • Preparation, dosing, and integration arcs
    • Indicators of high-quality vs. undertrained practice

Optional structured experiential dyad work (non-CE) is available for participants engaging in the KAP component, with supervised support and guided integration.

Afternoon: Restorative processing, reflection, and optional curated excursions.

Wednesday, January 27, 2027: Complex Trauma & Attachment Repair

Theme: Relational Wounds, Developmental Trauma, and Meaning-Making

    Participants examine:

    • Attachment wounds and protective adaptations
    • Shame, avoidance, and relational defenses
    • Developmental trauma and unmet needs
    • Why the body holds what relationships could not resolve

Applied learning labs focus on relational somatics, breathwork application in session, and titrated emotional processing.

Thursday, January 28, 2027: Psychedelic Integration as Intervention

Theme: Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy Integration & Clinical Translation

    Participants explore:

    • Integration as the mechanism of transformation
    • Working with protectors/parts in altered states
    • Preventing retraumatization and spiritual bypass
    • Translating insight into sustainable behavioral change

Optional second structured dyad experience (non-CE) available.

Evening: Off-site dinner and reflective community time.

Friday, January 29, 2027: Clinical Integration & Therapist Sustainability

    Theme: Therapist as Instrument

    • Sequencing trauma work over time
    • Integrating somatic micro-interventions into weekly therapy
    • Treatment pacing and ethical depth
    • Therapist embodiment and burnout prevention

The afternoon closes with a structured integration circle and embodiment ritual to support meaningful transition back into practice.
